Since upgrading to SD5 from SD4 I had noticed that my system was slow to start (or even hang on startup with no desktop showing), and if it did start the running of the system was tremendously slow...My system is:

Dell 8300 P4 3GHz Win XP SP2 (fully patched and up to date)
2Gb RAM
Zonealarm Firewall and Anitvirus
SD4 with upgrade to SD5 (without AV installed or activated)

When using SD4, I had no issues in running SD4 with Zonealarm...but even with not installing the AV section of SD5, there are some strange things going on to a point where I had to completely uninstall SD5 - it simply causes me too many problems, e.g.:

1. Smart update looks for the web even when I tell it not to - and then hangs up
2. The SD icon in the system tray can say 'Starting PC services' for a very long time and not change to indicate that it is fully up and running.
3. General computer slow down
4. Long time for the SD main menu to appear...and when you close it, it crashes

There are more issues, however, the main thing here is that I have noticed a severe change in the stability of the program from SD4 to SD5 to a point where is it easier (and safer) not to have SD on my PC anymore (unfortunately I have to forfeit about 5 months subscription by doing this! ).

I'd be interested in using SD5 again, but not until it is less intrusive of my system, less of a RAM hog and generally more stable.

Sorry guys, you need more work on this one.

OUTTA HERE!

Ever heard the expression "You're preaching to the choir."?

I am concerned that I am among a number of paying subscribers who have chosen to not allow their PCs to become part of an ongoing commercial company's science project or experiment. I do not have enough personal time to experiment with software for which I paid to be in good working order before I initially installed any latest version on my P.C. (Install...uninstall...reinstall...reboot...now, try it that way...reboot...now, try it another way.) Sorry, folks. Best wishes before my subscripton expires in August.
