Spyware Doctor doesn't load the security settings

Hi

I have a problem with Spyware Doctor v5. Most of the time, it doesn't run, and when i try to run manually i get a GUI window telling me that is waiting for the engine to run, while that is not true. I double checked a lot and there is some files that run with SD. There is also the issue of the missing icon on the tray. The only way i can get that damn icon back, is by terminating explorer.exe and reviving it again through Task Manager (without having to go through a reboot).


The attached picture describes the problem i am having lately (and to an extend since i bought the program), it is always like that,only a reboot sometimes will strait things out.

What version of Windows are you running (ie: XP, 2000, 98). Also, how many days ago did you install SD5.0?

I am using XP MCE, and SD5.0 last time was installed 3 weeks ago(had to "spring clean" my laptop ;) )

Bottom note:
After i posted the above message, i uninstalled SD5.0 and got SD4.0 using the same license, and i am in a "happy marriage" now :D:D. The icon is shown on the taskbar, the engine is running smoothly and everything seems perfect.

My thoughts: SD5.0 is not matured enough for the moment ;)

the SD5.0 developers are continuing to work on known issues. You can check the status of resolution by viewing the status updates at

At least first time that anyone related to PC Tools have indicated a more belivable timeframe. Slightly different from the 'next update' answers.

The question might be how many will be left!;)
