Hi all,

Just a quick fact that I think you may find to be interesting:

A test that I often use to ensure the integrity of Spyware Doctor is to direct my browser to “Bonzi Buddy.” Bonzi is certainly well known worldwide for the multitudes of spyware that it adds to your system. In the past, Spyware Doctor has always blocked my attempt to connect to the site. Today, I tried it again. SHOCK!! I went right in . . . browsed . . . and even pretended that I was going to download their stuff! No problemo’ per Spyware Doctor!

Before you ask . . . all of my guards are up and functioning. Now, what is wrong with this picture?

Hi
Which version of Spyware Doctor are you using? The current version 5 (5.0.0.179) does not include Site Guard. This is why you were able to access this website. Unfortunately I'm not sure when Site Guard will be returning, it is currently under redevelopment.

Well, I guess you hit the nail right on the head. I am using your most current version of Spyware Doctor (as a paid subscriber.) Still, it seems rather a shame that the protection I have paid for in the past has now seemingly been eliminated. I know you guys (and gals) are working hard to fix all of the current problems, but I don't feel quite as safe now as I have felt in the past.

In the past, it has always been a big comfort knowing that Spyware Doctor has protected my butt visiting malicious sites. Now . . . well, I guess I am on my own.

Thanks for your reply,

George

Hi
I agree with you, Spyware Doctor isnt as effective without spysite blocking. However, in the interim period without SiteGuard i can suggest you use McAffee SiteAdvisor. It is free, has a massive database and is very detailed. You can also go one step up and buy McAfee SiteAdvisor Plus which provides SpySite blocking. For more info, click here (http://www.siteadvisor.com/download/iemedia.html)
Hope that helps

Perhaps the best advise I've seen from You so far!:)

But why shall we pay twice? Would it not be more honest and correct if PC Tools 'bought' the licence and included the McAfee in their package until they get their problems sorted out? It was promised, it was delivered for some time, to me it worked, then it disappeared!

the free version of site adviser alone is better than site guard. the price of spyware doctor would have to double for pctools to buy the license. site guard will be released soon with some other free extras. site guard was removed due to concerns from the forums that it was affecting performance
