Anybody have the solution for my problem whereby since upgrading to v5, I get an Application Error which I can only close after a key depression of EXACTLY 20 times! This applies to both of my PC's. The error reads:
"The instruction at 0x021c3d70 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program."
I have tried re-installing in Safe Mode etc but to no avail. Techies at Spyware have suggested I re-load v4 for now until a fix is found. THAT was a month ago & I am still waiting - however the ticket 9324-7478-57 has been closed!

Hi
What version of SD5 are you using? The latest release is 5.0.0.179 and includes a fix for swdoctor.exe (please see this thread for more info: www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46290)

On SD's main page, in the upper, right-hand corner, next to "Help" there is a "Smart Update" menu item. Select that and it will run the Smart Update wizard. If you are already up to date, it will tell you that after the first step. Otherwise, you can run through the wizard and you should be updated. You may have to reboot, depending on exactly what was updated.
As for auto updating, you might have to change your settings. From the main SD page, select the "Settings" button. There should be a drop-down selection box (I believe it's on the main settings page; otherwise, you might have to go through the settings category links on the left-hand side) that specifies how smart updates are handled. The choices should be:
Do not check for updates
Notify me about available updates
Download and install updates (notify me)
Download and install updates (silently)
Select one of the last 2, and auto update should run for you.
