Hi,
I did read that it is not advisable or necessary to have two virus checkers
I had AVG installed , and was surprised SD's new download offered a virus checker.
I have uninstalled the AVG....did I do the right thing

Hey Bert,
Thats really up to you to decide. It depends how much protection you would like on your system. In these forums, I seen all sorts of set ups. Many people run all sorts of different Anti-Spyware/Anti-Virus programs and some may experience conflicts whereas others are running it perfectly. The best way is to try out what works best for you. You can always try to run different AV's and antispyware programs, but increases the risk of potential conflicts.
Got to take into consideration also with the real time protection. This may take up alot of CPU usage slowing down your computer. I have seen some people run real time from eg, spyware doctor and use other antispyware/antivirus to perform scans, this way if one misses the detection, another may pick it up.
This is just my view, I hope this helps.

No one program detects everything. If it did, the others would basically go out of business. The best thing is to have multiple AV's and antispyware programs. Where you need to be extra careful is in what you have resident in memory. Never have two antivirus programs running at the same time. In addition, be cautious having an AV and antispyware running at the the same time.

I have the same set up: SD and AVG. If I would put all eggs in PC Tools basket?
At the moment I'm closer to hit SD with the uninstall button than AVG, but hanging on out of pure curiosity to see if they ever manage to sort out not only the program, but even their sales and marketing policies!

Hey reodor, watch out there on that one.
There is an old saying 'Curisoty Killed the Cat'.
It's also followed by 'Satisfaction Brought it Back'.
Which do you think will happen in the end? :)

As for the cat: I have lost count of used lives, I just hope there is one left!
If not, look for the headlines:'Killed by SD5!'
As for satisfaction: My first hope is to get my systems work properly. At the moment I feel like being back to 286, 8Mb RAM and first generation dial up modem!
What might happend: At the moment the shares of PC Tools is not on my brokers 'recommended list'. However they might be on some competitors 'wanted list' if dropping low enough. I think it might be more at stake than just getting the SD 5 to work as intended.
I've been using SD5 with AVG internet security without any problems. Bearing in mind the issues others have had with SD5 + AV you might be better of sticking with the AVG for anti virus and use SD for spyware only.
