From what I am reading here and across the internet - yes its sperading like wild fire - PC Tools appears to have developed the equal to such famous product bloopers as the Edsel or New Coke.

Let me digress and explain something. I have four computers and I up dated them all to SD5. All of them run slower as a result, especially when it comes to booting up, opening internet explorer and opening programs. The two with dual core processors are slower than but not nearly as bad as the other two. The one with a singe 2.8 gig processor, a gig of ram and a 5400 rpm drive is so slow at this that I do believe that molasses will flow up hill on a cold day faster than this thing can boot up and open IE7. And this is supposed to be the PCT tools answer to compact efficiency?

Three of my subscriptions are up next month and if this does not improve by then I will have no choice but to bail out of this product.

Any plans, PC Tools to fix this or any ideas about how I can????

Sincerely,

Frank

Hi Frank,

I to experienced these problems with SD, Ive been posting for a while on these forums now helping other users with issues and have come across many users experiencing the same issues, slow PC, slow browsing with IE, FF, BSOD's and so on... list goes on. However, I have just downloaded SD 5.0.0.174 and it seems to work without any of these problems. To see more info on 5.0.0.174, visit http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46290. I hope all goes well for you as well.

Best of luck :)

IMHO, it is still too early to give verdict on SD v5, even the slimmed down version 5.0.0.174. I will test it on Vista loaded Dual Core machine.
