I have a Windows ME client on a WinNT domain network. I have to log into my WinNT domain in orther to validate myself in the network and be able to use network shared resources, such as public folders and printers from other clients. The WinNT admin has installed SMS (Systems Management Server) and since then, there is a process (smsmon32) permanently running on my PC. I would like to disable SMS monitoring in my PC, becouse the WinNT admin can spy and snoop into my computer every time they like. They can even "remote control" my workstation. SMS is more like a MS-TROJAN. How can I avoid this process (smsmon32) from running on my machine? I tryed erasing the program file (smsmon32.exe) but the SMS server just copies it back to my hard drive in folder C:\WINDOWS\MS\SMS\clicomp\SWDist32\bin. I tryed killing the process (CTRL+ALT+DEL) but it will run again every 5 minutes or so. I tryed deleting every "SMS" entry from my registry, but they all come back every time I log back into the network. So this is a persistent son of a gun and I can't find a way to kill it.

Can you please help me ???

Thanks,
GoTiK.

Live with SMS. It will also be used to update your system if necessary. And any sensible Admin will never "spy" on you ! They have enough other business to attend. The ability to remote controlling your station is an aid for helpdesk workers, so that you can phone / mail them and if you have difficulty to explain your problem, they will be able to look / spy what you are doing, and possibly fix it. J don't have a SMS system at hand, but believe that you would get a dialog asking to authorize the assist / spy functionality.
