I just upgraded to Spyware Doctor 5.0 after receiving an update notification. It is now 2 hours later because the program caused major problems with my computer. I lost all Internet accessibility with my computer!!!

I rebooted the computer 3 times, reset my wireless, reset my cable modem, and a whole list of other items. At this point, it seems to be working. I hope it does not continue like this or else I will completely uninstall it and use another product.

My suggestion to all on this forum: DO NOT INSTALL 5.0 UNTIL PCTOOLS MAKES CORRECTIONS!

I use another antivirus program and the interface reads "Attention Required." I find this a deceitful tactic from PCTools to try to make you purchase their antivirus product. The antivirus product received very poor reviews and was purchased by PCTools from another company. I suggest a change be made regarding this problem.

In addition, charging an automatic yearly subscription fee makes the company lose credibility in my opinion. It seems there was no way to get around this, if one wants the product. This may become a legal issue eventually.

PCTools was always knows for its top notch products, support, and service. This seems to be a thing of the past and makes me rethink my thoughts about PCTools.

I might add that I am a technology professional and know when a software program is not working properly and have a full knowledge of how software companies should run business practices and support.

Please, please, please - take head PCTools and make the appropriate changes and fulfill the needs of your long term customers.

I also had the same problem. IE7 and Outlook Express both locked up, and I couldn't even issue a Ping command from a Command Prompt.

Then I found the following solution in one of the threads yesterday:

Go to OnGuard, Network Guard, and untick DNS Protection. Voila, everything starts working, and without so much as a reboot!

Hi grignano & Hammer,

We are currently aware of the issues with Spyware Doctor v5 and are currently working at resolving these issues.

With the AntiVirus Plugin notification, you can disable this feature. To do this go to Settings-> General Settings-> untick the checkbox for "Display AntiVirus on Status Page".

Regarding the auto renewals, this can be canceled at any time. If you wish to cancel this, send me a private message with your license details and I will follow this up for you.
