Hi All,
I suspect this is just another manifestation of the problems reported elsewhere on this forum, but I've just upgraded to V5, having been invited to by an automatic window this morning when I switched on. However, having installed it, I can no longer connect to SmartUpdate. All my other connections to the Internet are fine. I am running Norton Internet Secityr 2006, and it all worked fine before the upgrade. Any comments/ideas? If I can;t resoplve this in the next day or so I'll have to revert to V4.

AliSmith,
I've noticed that a few people have mentioned this same issue on the forums. I had the Smart Update problem myself and found that when I turn off Norton Internet Security, and the smart update works great. If you have NIS on your computer, you might try this.

Hi Eli,
Yes, that worked fine, but it's not ideal - I want it all to be automated as it used to be in V4. Still at least I'm up to date for the moment. Hopefully they'll produce a fix before too long, otherwise I'll go back to V4 I think. That way I avoid the SmartUpdate error boxes popping up all the time 'cos it can't connect to the server.

I have the same problem with v5. I am using Zone Alarm pro and Avast Home free. I tried disabling them both but nothing worked. PC Tools must do something about it, QUICKLY...

This is ridiculous. Spyware doctor would like all of us who upgraded to 5.0 to disable all of our computer's security features like our Firewall and our Virus protection every time we would like to update their program. Why don't you make us re-install our operating system every time also. If you're going to make our lives difficult, you might as well make them miserable as well.
I can't believe I paid money for this.
