View Full Version : Slow Scan Time

Alright I just recently upgraded to version 5.0. Everything works fine for me at the moment except for when I scan my computer. I chose to do an intelli scan and the scan was only 2 minutes. However, I wanted to do a full scan and make sure my computer is clean. Please note I have the AV plugin installed. I realized in the settings that the scan alternative data streams box was checked. I unchecked it. Basically what I am getting at is that the scan time is taking several hours to scan my computer. Better yet, I cannot and have not successfully completed a full scan with Spyware Doctor yet. It gets stuck at 20-23% after one hour. It looks as if it is still scanning, but I figured the scan wouldn't take more then one hour.

Keep this in mind. I have a defective hard drive at the moment and am about to install my new hard drive in a few days and have a fresh install of Windows XP Pro with SP2. I got blue screened twice in my 2 scans with Spyware Doctor. Is this a problem on my end, or Spyware Doctor?

I am not blaming pctools, I just need some information so I can decide whether to install version 4 or 5 with my new hard drive.

Hi sulliman24,

You may be interested in this thread. Quite a long thread :p, but looks like the problem with this has been resolved.

You can try a scan in safemode to see if this passes the point. Also note that scanning with the AV-Plugin will take a while to scan as it also scans for viruses.
