Hi Edd,
This not a known issue with Privacy Guardian, to help you further with this, we will need more info. Could you provide screenshots of the error messages your are receiving? You may want to create a restore point before performing these steps. You may also want to try cleaning one section at a time and see if you are able to determine which section being cleaned is causing the problem.

I am having the same problem.
I have two laptop computers both running "Windows Vista" a "Dell Inspiron 6400" and a "Compaq Presario C502CA"
After installing and running "Privacy Guardian" I can no longer install additional programs either as a download or by CD.
Here is a link to a screen capture of the box I get when I try to install programs. Only the bit after the last \ changes.

In addition I wasn't able to use system restore as neither computer had any restore points created yet:(

I have down done a complete restoration on both computers restoring them to the original out of the box condition:)
I of course lost all installed programs and personal files but fortunately I hadn't used either computer for much yet.

Hi Everyone,
Just to let you know that we are currently working on this issue.
Can you confirm if the problem happens when you are performing a bleach or just a defualt clean?

I always use the 35 pass overwrite with bleach.
I never tried it any other way.
Don't know about the original poster.
PS I have used "Privacy Guardian" quite happily for several years on "Windows XP" with no problems.
Thanks for responding:)
I can't help on that 1 i have uninstalled it i dont really want to use it again till its fixed srry:(

I contemplated instaling "Privacy Guardian" again and experimenting.
But everytime you try something different you would need to reformat your hard drive again which would take up a big chunk of time.

Hi Everyone,
When the temp folder (e.g. C:\Windows\Temp) is deleted on Vista or renamed, you will get the error that is reported in your post. Privacy Guardian deletes this folder during the clean. The fix is very easy: create a Temp folder in the correct location and the problem should be solved. When using Privacy Guardian is run on Vista, option to Clean Temporary Files Directorty should not be ticked.

Thanks!
I am about to give it a try.
Without ticking off "Clear temporary files":)
Of course if we don't clear "Temporary Files" doesn't that defeat part of the purpose of using "Privacy Guardian"?
I have also found that if you right click to empty the recycle bin and click to shred with PG it loads the program but says that the reclycle bin is empty but its still there??

The developers are onto these issues. Should have a fix for these 2 issues shortly.

Just checking back with you, I reinstalled the program and it's working fine.
I see when you download the program now the option to "Clean Temporary Files Directory" is automatically deselected.
I was just curious "Is it automatically deselected for everyone or just if the program detects Windows Vista ? ":)

I think Privacy Guardian should have a short period restire point - just to ensure stability after running the program. =)

scruffyhampsters, "Is it automatically deselected for everyone or just if the program detects Windows Vista" is deselected for everyone, which is done by the installer. However, this will be removed in the next version of PG which should be released shortly.
viLLe, Thanks for the feedback. I'll pass this onto the developers to consider.
