I tried to reinstall cryware doctor. HOPING that would fixed the socket operation not permitted errors. Which I thought was was a pctools firewall unplus error.

Windows takes forever to start and when it does:

Windows must restart because RPC service terminated unexpectedly

counts down from 60 then reboots.

Between cryware doctor and pctools firewall unplus
my laptop is double plus messed up

I need to hard power it off to manage to break into safe mode.

This shutdown messages happens in safe mode TOO.

THANKS NOW I NEED TO REINSTALL MY LAPTOP!!!

I really need help from pctools support!

I was able to abort the windows automatic shutdown
with shutdown -a.
And uninstall spyware doctor.
So I can boot into XP now.

But I still don't have my network back.
socket operation not permitted errors.

MY patience is wearing thin. At my company we have unstalled pc tools firewall and spyware doctor from our test computer, my company laptop.

We still have socket operation not permitted errors. This laptop has no network connectivity what so ever. And today rather than using svn to commit and update files, we are using a usb stick.

Simple solution in the future will be don't use pc tools software.

Please help fixed the socket operation not permitted errors.

PC Tools support contact me. My company wants to pay for fixing the socket operation not permitted errors. On my company laptop, rather than me waste any more time with pc tools software. I have got my fingers rapped big time and I won't be installing any more software on windows machines.

Thanks PC Tools :( my fingers are still hurting.

I installed the new version 5.0 today. Now I have the same problem. After the installation the software started and wanted to update itself. But it wasn't able to connect to the server. I think that this was alread due to the RPC problem since the old version connected correctly to the internet before today (and any other internet application, too).
Now I have that problem and I need to get back into my system. This is a serious problem since this is my developing system and I don't want to reinstall all the developing utilities again.

Regards,
Michael

Hi,

I have been facing the same problem. My PC was running as it used to be until I downloaded the new version of Spyware Doctor 5.0. I am receiving the RPC message forever. Now I cannot have access to my documents at all. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS UNPLEASANT SITUATION. I am supposed to work now, but I cannot do anything.

Whenever I sign in, the RPC message pops up and Windows shuts down. Well, even Windonws does not shut down properly; it takes too much time and I have to shut it down by myself. This is a serious problem. Safe mode does not help me at all. I am facing the same problem.

While I acknowledge that Spyware Doctor have helped me a lot, I have to say that this is the worst experience ever. I would like to ask immediate support for this. Any updated software is not suppoed to be launched at this level.

Mad Matazz and MiguelTheMagic I hope you manage to abort the Windows shutdown. After uninstalling spyware doctor v5, you should be able to atleast boot into Windows completely before it restarts itself.

If any of you are experiencing socket errors as I am, please share your experiences. Needless to say my company is a little less than impressed with me installing spyware doctor. My company is planing a complete reinstall of my laptop. Once a complete software inventory is taken of my laptop it will be reinstalled. Thank goodness, we have policy that all editing done on local computers be synced out with the server through out the work day. As result only software needs to be reinstalled.

One of my co workers found this.

http://home.earthlink.net/~lreynol929/ruXP/Internet/fixing.htm

WinsockXPFix.exe

Undid the spyware doctor breakage.

I am good,

Hi tdwebste,

I eventually reinstalled Windows XP. I think SD messed up
something in my Windows system. Now eveything is fine
except that I do not have SD in my PC now. I am afraid of
installing the software now, although I paid the license fee.
This is not funny, you know.

Thanks for the information that you provided. :)

Hi
If you are still worried about installing SDv5, you can still download and install SDv4 (which is far more stable than SDv5) from http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/version4/
SDv4 doesnt use someof the more advanced protection that SDv5 is using which i believe may sort out your problem.
Hope that helps
