Can not access the web through cable. Installed it three times and had to do three system restores. When I tried to uninstall V4 (thinking that was the problem) received some error that the uninstall code was missing or something like that. Installed V5 again so I could remove all. After six reg cleaners, program files and %AppData% files removal I am clean of SD and will wait for a stable product!

Hi ratcher,

Could you please reinstall Spyware Doctor 5.0 and try the following steps to isolate the problem.

1. Turn the OnGuard feature ON and then turn all of the individual tools to OFF.

2. Turn all of the Tools back ON one at a time to see if you can isolate the problem tool specific to your PC.

Once the tool has been isolated, please let us know which tool is causing the problem and turn the tool off.

Thanks

I also had the same problem. IE7 and Outlook Express both locked up, and I couldn't even issue a Ping command from a Command Prompt.

Then I found the following solution in one of the threads yesterday:

Go to OnGuard, Network Guard, and untick DNS Protection. Voila, everything starts working, and without so much as a reboot!

I have spent about 14 hours trying to sort my machine out after installing SD5. I had the usual 'There are updates' note and as usual I carried on with that and then the now dreaded' New version avaliable' message came and right after that the 'Subscription expires tomorrow - renew now'. I think new version... OK lets do it, renew...well I think I am due so OK lets do it in case.
I let SD5 install and restart, and go to renew and it tells me that I cant renew as it is a subscription package and I must look in the customer support for info.........ONLY THERE IS NO INFO!!!!!!
I had to to go out for a short time to sort out kids and school, and then back I come to find that my machine had rebooted itself!!!!! OK maybe it had something to do with the next lot of updates (giving SD5 the benifit of doubt) I carried on doing some work on the net and it got slower and slower untill a page that I use that take about 30 seconds to load was taking upwards of 3 minuets, and then out of the blue my machine restated AGAIN and I know I did not do any thing as I was on my 2nd machine right next to it, there were no updates running. Odd I think and about 3 minuets after it had restarted, it shutdown again. The whole day I surf the web, on the 2nd machine, with I had NOT updated yet, only to find 13 pages (and counting) on this forum just on SD5. I have never had this sort of problems before with SD4 and fortunatly I have SD4 backed up so I can go back to it.
To make matter worse I then could not sign onto AOL at all so I could not access my emails so I could confirm my registration to this forum. I finaly managed to restart my machine and catch SD5 before it loaded and disabled it and low and behold I had my machine back!!!
I am running XP Home with McAfee Security Center.
I dont think I will be 'upgrading' to any other version unless the techs can prove beyond doubt that it works as well as SD4.

The only way to not make this a waste of time is to see it as a learning experience.
