I was wondering I have Registry Mechanic on my Vista, anyway I have Registry Mechanic setup to run nightly with the task schedule setup and the "/S" setting for full scan.

Anyway my question is it runs ok and does the job but when I get back to my computer everytime I have to hit the "continue" button and then exit.

"Is there anyway to have the program do that for me?", "Or do you know if there is a setting in the task schedule settup that I can select to do this for me?". Just wondering if there isn't that's ok although I would like to suggest this option be added in the next version of Registry Mechanic. I think the programs great! Before I found this program I tried several one of which was "Stomp Softs" Registry Repair hahaha it worked alright it zapped my registrastion for the program everytime! That program updated or not is garbage!

Registry Mechanic RULES!

Thank you for your time and thanks for a great prg.!

Hi MrFreeze,

Registry Mechanic does not have a built-in scheduling function. However, you can use a third-party scheduler or the Windows 'Scheduled Tasks' utility to set Registry Mechanic to scan at your preferred times.

You will need to use the following command-line options when setting your scheduler to run Registry Mechanic:

** Registry Mechanic command-line options **

Syntax usage (example) = "C:\Program Files\Registry Mechanic\RegMech.exe" /QS

/QS = Quick Scan mode

/S = Full Scan mode

To further automate the process you may want to use the 'Remove All Problems Automatically' option, which can be accessed by clicking 'Options' form the main Registry Mechanic program window, and then selecting 'General'.

Useful information on how to use the Windows Scheduler can be found at this link:

http://www.iopus.com/guides/winscheduler.htm

================================================== =====

I've listed some steps below to automate Registry Mechanic using Windows Scheduler in Windows XP.

1. Navigate to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Scheduled Tasks
2. Click Add Scheduled Task
3. Follow the Wizard prompts and select Registry Mechanic from the programs to run.
4. Follow the Date and Time settings
5. When request for Password please enter in the user password that your log on with (if applicable)
6. Click Next and proceed to advanced settings.
7. In Run text field copy and paste the following.

"C:\Program Files\Registry Mechanic\RegMech.exe" /QS

*Please note:

/QS = Quick Scan mode

/S = Full Scan mode

8. Click "Ok"

Registry Mechanic should now be automated to the desired time.

Thanks for the information but I already know all of that. I'm sorry I didn't post the question right. What I meant to say was this,

" I have registry mechanic on my windows vista setup to run nightly automatic and have it setup to remove items automatically, when the program finishes running the screen stays on my monitor that has the continue button that has to be pressed and then you have to exit the program".

Is there any selection that I can change with the program or maybe one you might know with the Vista schedule setup to where when the program finishes it's matainence where it will close the program itself?

Thankyou for your time and help.

Try this run command:

/U = exit RM

"C:\Program Files\Registry Mechanic\RegMech.exe" /U

This will allow you to perform a scan/repair and will also exit RM.

Try this run command:

/U = exit RM

"C:\Program Files\Registry Mechanic\RegMech.exe" /U

This will allow you to perform a scan/repair and will also exit RM.

I tried that command instead of /S but it doesn't seem to do anything, I tried just replacing the /S with the /U and it doesn't seem to do anything. I also tried it like "C:\Program Files\Registry Mechanic\RegMech.exe" /S/U I haven't tried /S /U though. Could it be a security setting issue or something? I'm using windows vista home basic, the only thing is if it is some kinda security problem it's not telling me nothing. I double checked to make sure the program name and folder were correct and they were. Any idea why it might not be working?

Thank you for your time.

I have registry mechanic run every night doing an auto-scan and repair. I have tried every setting that I can think of and have asked about various settings. I know about /QS and /S and I heard that /U would run the program and then exit it but it seems to do nothing. I am using Windows Vista Home Basic, I was going to ask about thoughts about what I might be doing wrong?

I have it setup with the Windows Vista Home Basic Schedule Program.

I am currentally using the program to run nightly with the /S setting but the thing that bugs me is regardless of what I do when I wake up it still has the screen on there that ask me to hit the "continue" button and then I have to manually exit the program. I was told that I could use the command "/U" and that it would run and automatically exit the program without having to do that but it doesn't seem to do that. I have tried settings like /SU, /S /U, /QSU /QS /U, and various others but it seems there is no way for this program to run with windows schedule setup and exit the program after auto repairing everything. I like to run my program nightly, the only thing I want it to do is run everything automatic without having to wakeup and hit "continue" and then "exit" the program?

Thoughts???

This is a great program and I'm not knocking it and I wanted to make a point of saying that! I am just wondering if that is possible and if not will it be available in the next version for "Windows Vista Home Basic"? Which is the very basic 32 bit version of the new windows.......

Thoughts?

It appears that the command will not work with Vista. I have added the scheduled scan + exit with RM as a feature request. The developers may add this feature to the next version of Registry Mechanic. At this point, I am unable to provide a time frame for this but if I do receive any additional info, I will let you know.

Sounds great! Thankyou, maybe they will put that feature in. Either way I'm going to continue using the program because it does such a great job.

Thankyou
