i installed the free version of PC Tools AntiVirus, works pretty fast and i think is user friendly, but i'm not 100% sure that is powerful, i'd like to know how can i test it, i just can't trust it...with kaspersky internet security 6.0 i have no doubt that my pc is safe but in the pc tools antivirus software i'm just not confident enough. can anyone help ?

If you've not already looked, check the other threads, especially http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44948
Bear in mind, no software is perfect, even Kaspersky 6.0!
(BTW, a free light version of KAV 6.0 is still available as AOL Active Virus Shield)
I've been using PCTAV 3.1 on 2 PCs in a networked office since January with no virus-stopping issues There should be a new version out soon which will (hopefullly) incorporate many of the suggested improvements.

first of all kis 6.o is the best, all my collegues were infected with an instant message virus or mallware and i haven't got a slight concern, kaspersky had blocked the bad site. the trouble with kaspersky is that i'm borred to search for key's and during scan i can't do **** at my pc. with pc tools free antivirus is more simple and more fast, user friendly as i already sayed.
i wanna know if i can count on it, like i was counting on kaspersky.
Hi iKonak,
I think if you can rely on Kaspersky, you can also reply on PC Tools antivirus. It is a good program with good virus definitions.

Connecting your computer to the internet is an act fraught with potential problems. Virus attacks show no sign of waning, so adequate protection is absolutely essential. PC Tools has earned itself a reputation of producing indispensable security tools that are easy to use and reasonably priced, and its anti-virus package is the latest in a range of updates and protection services.
Features
Everything you would expect to find in a good anti-virus tool is here. In addition to the standard full system scan, it is possible to configure custom scans, ignoring particular folders for the sake of speed. Integration with Windows Explorer means that it is possible to right click on individual files and folders for one-off virus checks. As well as on-demand and scheduled scanning, the OnGuard tool offers real-time protection by looking for suspicious activity that could be an indication of
Performance
Pitched against competitors, PC Tools AntiVirus offers a superb level of virus protection. A problem with many anti-virus tools is the impact they have on system performance as a result of heavy memory usage, but this is not a charge that can be levelled against this program – with PC Tools AntiVirus running in the background we noticed little, if any, slow down.
Ease of use
Out of the box there is little configuration required to get the program up and running beyond downloading updates. The Live Update feature warns when there are new virus definitions available, but it is a shame these are not downloaded and installed automatically. OnGuard is not enabled by default, but this can be changed from the start-up screen of the program. The program's clean, uncluttered interface makes it instantly accessible.
Value for money
At around half the price of big name alternatives, there's no denying AntiVirus represents great value for money. But with the likes of AVG AntiVirus offering virus protection free of charge, you may want to weigh up the options before parting with your cash.
Verdict
With an attractive price tag and no unnecessary bells and whistles, it is easy to recommend PC Tools AntiVirus. We were impressed not only with the program's virus detection rate, but also by its speed of operation and stability.
