Yeah I have been wanting to do this for a long time too, I am a DJ by night, and all my 98 systems have a turntable at startup up, and when I go to work in the days as an Architect, my pc there starts up with a cool landscape, but my win2k machine I cant seem to find how to do it.

Just place the path to your suggested file at

[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\ControlPanel\Desktop]
Value Name: Wallpaper

i.e. C:\Pictures\Your_logo.bmp

You can change winnt256.bmp as well, it's just a bitmap with 256 colors and it's not stretched or whatever. That means a picture of 1024x768 will be too big if you're running in 800x600 mode.

I don't think that does what you think it does. That appears to set the default walpaper from that blue to whatever you set it as.

They want to edit the equivalent of the logo.sys file. I don't think you can do that in 2000 and I know you can't in NT.

W2k uses two different startup logos, the second is changed with winnt256.bmp. In NT 4.0 this file is similar to logo.sys, except for the blue startup screen wich appears at first.
