I am having a small problem with Vista and Registry Mechanic, I am using the latest one that I have read about for Windows Vista how you need to download and use version "6.0.0.780a".

The problem that I am having is I have recentally bought a new computer that came with Vista Home Basic and it also came with Napster.

My system is an Emachine W3609 that came with an audio program called Sigma Tel Audio Monitor V1.0.

Anyway, After I run the newest version of Registry Mechanic "Which I now see has the file issue fixed, not the one where it was giving incorrect numbers on the files fixed".

I can run the program and I have this free trial of napster which just installed a file called Dahli or something like that.

When I run Registry Mechanic and repair the registry then as soon as I reboot then it re-installs the file Dahli from Napster and also re-installs the file for my Sima Tel Audio speaker setup everytime. It's starting to become irritating because I have to hit keys to give permission for it to do that.

I turned off Automatic Repairs in the custom scan and tried to search down the files that it was removing but I could not find them because there is no direct name file that says Napster or Sigma Tel Audio.

Can someone help? This is a great program and I don't wanna have to stop using it because of something I am sure is simple to fix like this.

Thank you for your time and sorry for the long message but I had to try and explain. If I didn't explain enough ask me and I will try to again.

Thankyou

MrFreeze

MrFreeze, does it only happen after running RM? I.e. run RM, reboot - reinstall. Does it happen if you reboot without running RM?

Yes, it only happens after I run RM. I can run RM and reboot and it re-install's the two programs Sigma Tel Audio's file and the whatever it is removing from Napster. I don't subscribe to Napster but it came with a free subscription with my brand new computer and am considering it.

I know that RM is removing the files, that's a good question that you asked because after I posted the message you replied to I tried to shut down and also restart my computer several times just to make sure it was RM and it was.

I don't have any other kinda programs on my computer that could be removing anything either by schedule or otherwise. I do use Windows Live One Care, although I ran the tune up selection several times and rebooted to make sure it wasn't the problem.

I am sure that RM is removing those files that is making my computer re-install those programs. Also I am pretty sure that I need to find out what files it's removing and add them to the white list or do not remove list. The only thing is it may take me a while because the last time I ran RM it found 251 problems and that's a lotta files to go one by one with and also the only way I can be sure I find the right file or files is gonna be to restart my computer after removing a file one by one and restarting my computer. That's gonna take a looooooong time.

Any ideas anyone? I was hoping that I was missing a selection somewhere that would tell me more about the files that are being repaired. 249 files of the 251 are temp files and the other two don't say anything that seems to be included with Sigma Tel Audio or Napster.

Thankyou for the reply.

I've already replied to this message but I wanted to say, THE STRANGEST thing just happened with my computer and I am really trying to figure out what it was.

Anyway all my explainations of my computer and Registry Mechanic problems are listed in the 1st reply that I sent and second.

What is really weird is the fact that the problem that I was having has completally stopped.

I failed to mention in my previous statements that I did use "System Restore" before the problem occured, it didn't start untill I ran Registry Mechanic though. "BUT", the last time I used "System Restore" and ran Registry Mechanic 6.0.0.78a afterwards "With repair files automatically", I kept having the problem of the Sigma Tel Audio file and Napster Dali file re-installing everytime I ran Registry Mechanic and restarted my computer. Anyway I turned off automatic repairs and ran Registry Mechanic and rebooted my computer but didn't have it set to automatic repairs and didn't repair nothing, "No re-installation because nothing was removed", then I tried it with manual repairs and re-booted then used automated repairs doing the same AFTER RE-BOOTING a fewtimes and "No Problems".

Everything is fine now, the only thing I can figure is that when I used the System Restore and ran Registry Mechanic right after my computer restarted and I must mention "I WAITED EVERY TIME FOR EVERYTHING TO LOAD PROPERLY", it must have been removing a file it was see'ng as no longer needed or should I say "An installation File". I don't know much about computers but that's the only thing I can think of and the problem seems to be fine now. BTW I have had the Monitor turned off, although I wish there was more documentation as to how monitor works because I never turn it on because I don't know that much about it and how it might slow down my computer or speed it up...... Or like I said not much documentation.

Just wanted to say Thankyou for your help!:D :D :D

Keep up the good work PCTOOLS!!!

Hi MrFreeze,

The monitor feature in Registry Mechanic, located in under Settings. This tool will monitor certain registry locations and record each time they are modified. When these registry locations have be accessed a certain time you will receive an popup notification alert. This can be set in Options>Monitor.

Registry Mechanic does not stop or prevent these registry locations from being modified however it acts more for an alert to tell you how often your registry is being accessed.

To activate Registry Monitor.

Open Registry Mechanic, select Options>Monitor and tick "Enable Registry Monitor"

You can then minimize Registry Mechanic, this will allow monitor to be active and sit in your system tray.

To access Registry Monitor:

Right Click on the Registry Mechanic icon in the system tray and select "View Registry Monitor"

I must say I am impressed, I was going to ask this question in a new post and thought I would check my previous message and I see you have answered my question that I was going to post.

Thank you! This is another reason why I say "PCTOOLS" products are the ones to use! Trust me, when I used to have my old XP computer I used System Mechanic, Norton, McAffee, F-Secure, Vcomm System Suite, and I also tried StompSofts Registry Repair "Which I might say I had SEVERE PROBLEMS with that program to the affect of having to reinstall my computer with factory disk" and never got a reply from StompSoft. Then I purchased "Registry Mechanic" from Office Depot and I have to say I have been happy with the support and the product performance. And BTW The SYSTEM MECHANIC proffesional 7 that I bought that says it's Vista compatible ON THE BOX and they let you download the program and all that stuff, "Well from my experience it is not", I had a severe problem with it also because what happens with it is when you run a deep analysis it will get to 52% everytime and reboot your computer and will tell you it will be looking for a sollution and never finds one. Tried contacting their tech support and got an automated message and never heard from them again after several messages, I also noticed at our local Office Depot that System Mechanic Proffesional 7's price has dropped in their store from 79 dollars for 3 computers all the way down to 29 dollars, hmmmm, that kinda says something about it I would think and it's a fairly new released program in stores. Windows Live One care has great support I must say because I had a minor problem with it and they fixed the problem in a timely manor. Anyway I had to mention those few things to let you know how much I really appreciate the QUICK response that PCTOOLS has had to the problems that I have had with this program which I see is working 100% right!

Just wanted to say thankyou and keep up the good work PCTOOLS!
