COA code

I purchased a new Sony Slimtop computer that came loaded with Windows ME. The Certificate of Authenticity label was removed and lost. How do I retreive the code. I was told the code is stored in the Registry. I am new to computers so I will need a step by step guide to retreive the code. Thank you very much
