My current version is 5.0.0.145 and when I run Smart Update I get a message saying that my updates are up-to-date. I have noticed that the latest version is 5.0.0.155. How do I get my system to update to the latest? (I have got auto-update enabled and have had it enabled so since installing version 5 on release date. Please advise as I do not wish to have to download the entire app and re-install.

Hey mike,
The upgrades between program versions have never been done via smart update and I don't think the new beta builds are released that way either. Smart update has the updates to the database and the tools but not to the core code which the changing beta's probably include to remove these bugs.
To change between builds (in your case 5.0.0.145 and 5.0.0.155) you need to download the latest build and install that.
The fast changing nature of beta testing often means having to do complete downloads over and over as each new beta build is released if you are wanting to test them.

Hi Darkbeholder. thanks for the quick reply. One tends to forget that one is running a Beta version. If I re-download the latest version will I lose my database updates?

The database files are included in the setup file, this will not be the latest, but close to it. So once you install a new version of SD, you should have close to the latest database signature. When you run a smart update, it may download some new signatures. Shouldnt be that big as pc tools have now introduced the incremental updates in the Beta version.
With what Darkbeholder was saying, to upgrade, you'll need to download the SD setup file and install the file. As updating only allows you to get new signatures and tools.

Updating will also restore the antivirus component if you have it installed. The first time through, I thought that I would just follow the link connected to the "Antivirus Not Installed!" warning in the SD main screen and update there, but that only gets you the notice "Antivirus Already Installed" or some such words. I thought I had a problem, but the next update fixed the trouble. The installer should update on completion, but that is not working right just yet.
