System Properties freezing in WinME?

When I go to my System Properties and try to click on the "File System" button it either takes several seconds (up to 30) to open or it freezes so that I have to use
ctrl/alt/del to close System Properties...I do not have this problem with the
Graphic or Virtual Memory buttons (unless I click on File System before them,which in that case they all freeze) Does anyone know why this is happening?
I have a HP 8860 (1 Ghz, 256 MB RAM) with WindowsME o/s if that helps. Thanks.

Have you tried runnin scandisk or the defragmenter?

Yes,it was the first thing I tried,but it had no effect.Thanks anyways.

Do you have Windows Media Player?
If so- check if it is the latest update.
Although it seems weird- I had similar problems thar were solved after I instaled the latest WMA.

You know what,I ended up reinstalling ME.I started finding all kinds little problems popping up.Seems to have done the trick.Thanks for the responses.
