Spyware Doctor 5.0 beta S-L-O-W-S everything

I installed the beta today, rebooted, installed its antivirus, rebooted.

It slows down my whole system (2 Pentium chips, 2GB RAM).
Broadband 6000kbsp dropped to 1000.
Click on START and nothing happens for 4 or 5 seconds.
Internet Explorer patch applied--now Internet Explorer won't even open.
Microsoft Office 2007 slowed to a crawl.:(

Wow, I hope you're just in the beginning stages of this. I disabled the whole thing with a startup manager for now until I figure out what to do.
