Hi, I have been in touch with ESET re problems with SD beta and they are currently looking into the problem of NOD32 reporting the beta download program (or part of it) as being an 'Unknow NewHeur_PE virus'. I must say they have been helpful.

I know there are other threads about the NOD32 problem, although there does not seem to be much activity recently.

My real question is that there is a thread dated 12 Feb which says there was a new beta released two days ago. I looked at the beta download page, and that says the latest version was January 29. Am I looking in the wrong place? I used:
http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/beta/

Also, the thread said it was beta 5 - where do I find that information in the installed program? All I can find is a version number which is 5.0.0.153 - is this beta 5?

Thanks.

Hi StevieW,

For all reported issues, please see: http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44951

The First Spyware Doctor Version 5 Beta was released on the 29th of January and there after we have released another 3 Beta versions, which resolves some of the issues found in the earlier Beta versions.

Please note SD Version 5.0.0.153 is Spyware Doctor Version 5 Beta (4)

Hi, thanks for all the information.

Just a few points...seems to me it would be better to refer to the beta's by their version numbers rather than just beta 3 or beta 4.

As I have downloaded beta 4 and NOD32 does not like it, then obviously there are still issues outstanding.

As described in other threads, I did install the latest beta in safemode on my PC and it installed okay. However, after booting in normal mode, NOD32 got upset when I tried to download the database updates.

In speaking to ESET, they did request a copy of the latest beta version and I pointed them to the main download page. Hopefully the issue may get resolved soon. Fingers crossed anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add the version number to the next release of the Beta versions.

It looks like the problem you are experiencing is related to:

NOD32 issues detecting Spyware Doctor (MoveFile failed; code 2 during install & program being stuck at "Checking..." once it is installed and initially executed)
Status: Reported - Awaiting resolution from ESET

Well hopefully ESET will have downloaded the latest beta version by now and seen the problem.

They have been very responsive to my requests today, and said that they would send the latest beta to their labs for testing.

Thanks for your help.

Hi, I have just heard back from ESET who tell me they have resolved the problem between SD beta and NOD32 and that the fix is in the next Virus Signature Database update. This is a daily (sometimes more) update so hopefully all will be well once we do NOD32 download the new signature.

Thanks to ESET for doing the fix.

There still seems to be a problem with the Malware Detective - have spoken to ESET and they are checking it out.

SD beta does now seem to install okay.

ESET have told me that the problem with NOD32 is now solved. However the latest beta (v155) crashes their PC so they cannot test it on that version.

Has anyone still got a problem with NOD32 and the latest SD beta 5?

I am not running NOD32 but beta 5 crashes my PC when I try to browse the internet with Firefox.
Beta 4 on the other hand works well
I have F-Secure ISS installed

Hi All,

Saxel - The testers are currently working on replicating this. Will let you know once I get more info.

StevieW - we have tested SDv5 Beta and NOD32 and everything seems to be working in order. We are still doing some further testing. Once I've been given the all clear, I'll update the reported issues sticky thread (http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44951).

Hi,

That's good news.

Once the problem with ZoneAlarm Pro and SD closing the True Vector Monitor down I can start testing again.

I reported this problem here:
