I have noticed that in windows 2000 if you use the desktop toolbar and you place your mouse over one of the icons it does not show the name of the item as it does in windows 9x, rather it shows the type. i.e. say I have a file named "phone numbers.txt", in windows 9x if I place my cursor over the icon on the toolbar it would say "phone number.txt" in the tool tip, but in windows 2000 it says "Type: Text" or something to that effect. Is there any what to make it act like windows 9x and display the actually name of the file?

Thanks

Found it, if you go to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*
Either delete or rename the "InfoTip" Key
This will turn it off for Everything except the system icons (My computer, my documents......) if you want them all off just do a search for InfoTip and either rename or delete all you find
