Hi PCTools,

Dreamweaver 8 FTP services still don't work in SD5 beta 3. Needs the reboot after uninstalling SD5 to get FTP back.

IE7 is still slow to start up (as reported by others).

So too is Dreamweaver 8, now that I am watching startup times more carefully. On startup, DW8 goes to the Adobe site to check for updates info, etc, to display in its opening pane. Might be related (FTP based check?)

Hi lbray,

We have tried to replicate the problem with Dreamweaver8 FTP but were unable to get the same results.

Are you using any other software when this problem occurs? Any additional info you can provide will assist us in resolving this.

Hi Anthony,

Besides DW8, the only other products that were running at the same time were BitDefender 10 AV and Net Traffic Meter (a download/upload counter).

Not sure whether I reported this previously, but with BD10 running, SD5 beta1 caused a CTD whenever BD10 would do its autoupdate and there was other net traffic. Removing SD5 stopped that problem (and I'm not predisposed to keeping SD5 installed to test if that bug still exists whilst I'm still experiencing slow IE7 and FTP problems with it). Off topic, but might assist with the diagnosis.

I'm also willing to re-install SD5 beta 3 and test again if, say, there's an SD5 log I can capture and send off or something else useful I can do for you.

By the way, the DW8 symptom is that the "test remote site" in the Manage Sites dialogue box shows a successful contact with the remote site, and clicking on the "make connection" icon on the files tab is usually successful as well, but uploading/downloading a file to/from the server gets started and then throws up a message something like "Unable to connect to server - Attempting reconnection..." after each connection attempt timeout.
