Beta 3 impressions

Just installed Beta3 , (deinstalled SD4 then ran reg mechanic before installing)

1) Email scanner removed ?

2) IE 7 on loading takes 10 seconds to connect to a "home page" , repeated for each "home page" tab ... repeatable slowness when loading IE . This did not occur with SD4

3) IE 7 page loading .. slower on SD5 than SD4

4) Spyware blocking .. some sites SD4 blocks SD5 does not

5) File Scanner seems to slow down loading of files/applications, eg Explorer

Windows XP SP2 (fully patched)
1GB Ram
Norton A/V 2006

Just found out ONGUARD email scanner might be active as the damned thing just tagged an email as

yet it does not appear in the onguard application list


Also. after 20 mins of running, performance suffers in web browsing (ie)

E mail guard is certainly active - it causes Thunderbird to hang when I try to download mail, what PC Tools have removed is the option to configure or disable it - so you can no longer prevent it adding the message to outgoing mail.

A minor point at this stage whilst working towards a final fully debugged release but it should be a personal choice firstly whether or not to have Email Guard on in the first place and secondly whether such a message is added as part of the process. This applies equally to message that was being added to Skype through the IM Guard if that is still there.

Email Guard is still there, however, it is not being displayed on the GUI. Currently investigating this and should be resolved shortly.

This is a known issue and is being worked on.

This is a known issue and is being worked on.

This should not be happening as the database is the same for SD4 and SD5. could you please confirm which sites are not being blocked. Please send a private message and I'll double check these.

5) File Scanner seems to slow down loading of files/applications, eg Explorer -
All security applications does a scan of a file, etc when a user tries to open/execute, so some dealy may be excpeted but it won't be noticeable. By the way, how long does it take to open the apps and what sorts of apps? Please be aware that this could be linked to the slow responsiveness issue with IE, which is currently being worked on.
