Fights with Google desktop search

I have installed the SD 5.0.0.147 (Beta2) update and I got an error message from Google desktop search which indicated that the SD install had disabled it and mentioned that their newer version solved problems like this. I recall doing some similar fix on a previous install and wonder if some of the slowness and buginess that I have been experiencing is due to an unresolved conflict between these two programs...

I have uninstalled google desktop search, and some of my older problems with slow starting programs has vanished. The error message was from Google's product, and they provide a method of fixing it by installing an update. I did that before, but I think that the fix caused trouble. Here's their error message:
