Good morning, i'm a spyware doctor user and i love pc tools software. Recently i've installed the PC Tools AntiVirus and apparently there was no problem.

However, my browser (Mozilla FireFox) is now sooooooooo slowwwwwwww so slow so slow ... is that because of PC Tools AntiVirus?? Does he uses a lot of memory?

i noticed that my eMule often blocks too. I minimize it, and when i want to maximize he does not maximize. I have to go to Ctrl+Alt+Del and End the process. Dows pctools antivirus blocks TCP and UDP connections??

thanks for the help...

I heard there was a problem with internet guard with internet explorer 7. Maybe the same problem with firefox. You can just disable internet guard and still leave file guard on. If you have just internet guard off the status page will show on guard as limited instead of off

ok, thanks for the help.

I've disabled the internet guard and now mozilla firefox is fast again :p

i hope pctools solves this problem quickly, because i would like to have internet guard on.

I need to uninstall right now the free version of PC Tools anti-virus. I don't see the program listed in Install-Remove on my PC XP.
Help?
This is the first time I've tried to use this forum service.

Thank you

Hey RRt,
Try the following:
Start > All Programs > PC Tools AntiVirus > Uninstall PC Tools AntiVirus

See if that resolved your problem.

Hey bad_boy_14,

charlespt is replying to RRt.

With your problem, what is happening? When AV is on what happens to IE7?

Any error messages?

Hey Bad_boy_14,

It sounds like your having a similar problem to FiLL.

Have you tried turning off Internet Guard to see if that resolves your problem?

To turn off Internet Guard open AntiVirus and then OnGuard and then Internet Guard. Click on both HTTP and FTP to change them both to off.

If you are still having problems please provide the additional details katie was asking about.

thanks

Just checked AV and Internet guard - monitors and removes malicious data streams received by web browsing (HTTP) or file transfer (FTP).

I guess if you visit any malicious sites, you'll need to perform a scan anyway with or without Internet Guard activated just to be sure the system is clean.

I also dont have this enabled, but just run scans on more regularly then usual for the time being.

Hey FiLL,

We need more info in order to assist you.

1. What were you doing before the error message was displayed?
2. Are you able to replicate the steps to get the error message again?
3. If you could replicate step 2, can you please email me the PCTAV log files?
I will private message you my email address.

Download PCTAV_Logging.zip from the link provided then complete the steps to send us the log files.

http://support.pctools.com/manager/downloads.php?file=PCTAV_Logging.zip

1. Extract all files from PCTAV Logging.zip onto your desktop
2. Exit from PC Tools Antivirus if running, to exit PC Tools Antivirus, right click the PC Tools Antivirus icon located in the system tray and Exit
3. Run Delete_Logs.bat - Deletes your current PC Tools Antivirus log files
4. Run Increase_Logging.reg - Changes the log settings so that it records more detail for the error
Note: System performance may be affected due to increased logging
5. Reboot your computer
6. Run PC Tools Antivirus, ensure that Error 104 is displayed
7. Run Copy_Logs.bat
8. Run Default_Logging.reg - Changes the log settings back to normal, system performance should be back to normal
9. Attach the log files located in C:\PCTAV Logs and reply to this email

Once we receive the log files, our Development Team will analyze them and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Please be advised that I downloaded the free antivirus software from pc tools, well long story short I had to unistall the program because of the damage it was doing to my pc. I went to add/remove programs and uninstalled the software, restarted my computer, went to start, right click, search, typed in PC Tools, searched in the c:\ and my computer found 10 pc tools files still in my pc. I tried to delete these files and I get a "source disk error" The software does not completely uninstall. I have ask pc tools for help for 2 days now and have yet to get a response. Furthermore, untill this software is completely uninstalled I am unable to use my MS Office. It has taken 4 days to repair the damage that was done by this pc tools virus software.

Hi Angie_B

The reason why the uninstall didn't remove all files is because some files may have been running at the time of uninstall this is why they have not been removed but after going through the uninstaller then you should be able to delete the PCTAV folder after a reboot.

If you are unable to delete the PCTAV folder, you may need to go in safemode to delete the folder.

Also, can you provide me with your ticket number and I'll have this followed up.

Please note - We have had no reports of PCTAV conflicting with Microsoft Office, however, I have passed this on to have this tested.

AChen, I just read your post an I have finally been able to completely get PC Tool off my computer. When I search my hard drive for PC Tools, it not finding anything, however, I was unable to use my MS Office after I install PC Tools and now after removing PC Tools I still cannot use my MS Office. I am desperate for help and have spent nearly 20 hours on the phone with diffrent Tech Support Agents and still the problem is not resolved.

Hi Angie B,

It is very bizzare that MS Office is still not working even after uninstalling PCTAV.

Have you tried re-installing MS Office to see if this helps.

We'll need to investigate this further and get back to you.

Hey paul1016,

How can we help you on this forum if you haven't even provided us with your problem?

If you would like one of the mod/admin to follow up on a problem that you have submitted to support, provide them with your ticket number. They can then follow this up.
