I have two computers A and B that are connected through a hub. A is connected to the internet and B accesses the internet through A. After installing Firewall Plus, I can access the internet from A, but B now cannot access the internet that is shared in A. The new Rules set file has also been installed.

Help is greatly appreciated

Hi lionel,

What happens if you disable the packet filtering rules in computer B?

Cheers,
Chippa

firewall plus is only installed in A. B has Macfee. If I remove the Firewall plus from A then B has internet but the moment I start firewall plus, B looses internet.

have you checked your firewall logs?

Any other UDP packet seems to be blocking the IP address of Comp B. How do I allow this safely withought opening my comp to viruses.

Hi
The best way to do it is to look at the log and create a rule with the same port and protocol (in your case UDP). Allow only the port that the blocking rule displays. This should be enough.
Hope this information helps. If you find it harder to create the rule please send us a screenshot of the log (double click on it before) and I will give you better more details on how to create the rule,
Hope this information helped

As you can see from the attachment, B has the same first 3 numbers in the IP address as comp A, but the last one of comp B changes everytime comp B is turned on. Can I use a rule that will check the first three numbers and allow it whatever the 4th number is? Thank you.

IP rules creation dialog allow you to specify a rule that will only match the IP address of computer B. (This would be the external IP address section in the rule)

Hi, this is a shot in the dark. It would be nice if PCTools can come up with a rule set import feature that look n stop has(there are many rule sets availiable at lns).Place this rule above the "block other udp' rule. Hope this helps.

I may be misinterpreting but, wouldn't the remote IP range be "In Range" instead of out?

The coming version of PC Tools Firewall Plus will allow import/export of rules
