Hi

I have recently installed the PCT FW+, and initially it showed a yellow or orange icon in the systray. Like other products of a security nature I like to keep an eye on it and ensure they are still running. However the icon has disappeared. If I go to start menu and open the program UI it says it's ON and Task manager says the same. Is there some simple switch I have missed or inadvertently turned off? Incidentally I do generally like Spyware Doctor suite - which I have bought and been using for some time, and look forward to using this new firewall, which I am hoping is as good.

Thanks Tanimoto

It also occured to me when I had to close explorer.exe...
Guess it has something to do with this :)

Hi,

You may find this thread useful.

If we could get some additional info, this would be great.

Anthony:

Thanks. I am still puzzled. Having got the icon back by just re-installing, I followed the thread you suggested and then thought perhaps it was worth checking the taskbar. Lo and behold everything had been set back to default - which means "Hide when inactive" for everything". I put back "always show" for the FW+ and Spyware Doctor, although Spyware Dr had continued to show its systray icon in spite of the setting! So I still do not know what caused it.

Second point when I was updating the Spyware Dr this morning I noticed the FW+ icon changed from its Yellow brick wall to a ladder of blue and greeen which "rippled". This icon continued until the SD download finished, when it reverted to the normal brickwall with the + sign. Is this normal behaviour?

I am quite happy to send you the Belarc report how can I send it? I have saved it as an .mht single file

Regarding the "ripple" behaviour, that's perfectly normal. The icon changes to indicate network activity as you surf the web or download stuff. The higher the bars go, the faster your network speed is at that moment.

Tanimoto,

I will private message you my email address. You can attach the Barlac report to the email. I will then get back to you asap.

Just as solcroft mentioned, the change of the Firewall tray icon is normal behaviour.
