What rules are needed (or disabled) to allow a local network to be seen and used?
When Firewall Plus is active, I can't see the host computer from other computers on the network. When I disable the firewall I can "see" the protected computer.
TIA

If you are trying to connect to other resources on your network, then you will need to edit 2 rules within the firewall (set to allow).

1) Block winNuke (which blocks filesharing)
2) Stop netBIOS

Only change these to "Allow" if you are on a private LAN, and want to share resources, not if you are connected directly to the Internet

This helped but I still can't get access to 'C' drive. It gives me a "permission error."
Almost there
Any other ideas?
Thanks

We have fixed a bug in the logic of creation of filtering rules which caused the remote port configuration not to be saved. We suggest that you Smart Update to the latest version. The Smart Update process will update the PCTFW.exe (to test that you have received the latest update, right click on the PCTFW.exe and choose properties, then check that the version of the PCTFW.exe is 1.0.0.10)

We have also updated the Filtering rules but since we do not want to automatically replace the rules for users who edited their rules we have not released it in the Smart Update. You can download the latest rules from this post, (see attachment).

You can use this rule by shutting down the firewall and then go to C:\Program files\ PC Tools Firewall Plus, rename the old rule file (RulesSet.rls) and copy the new RulesSet.rls file to that directory, then restart your firewall.
