Thank you for posting.

Could you please provide some confirmation on the questions below which relate to your network environment, prior to diagnosing the issue you are experiencing.

Is the network environment a Domain or Workgroup?

Server - What Operating System does the Server run where SDE is going to be installed?

Clients - What Operating Systems do the Client PC's run? Are there different OS's in the network?

Are there any laptop PC's?

Do you plan to use Micrososft SQL Server as the SDE Database? If so what SQL version do you run?

Do you already use an Enterprise Antivirus or any other Third Party security applications?

Server OS is MS Small Business Server 2003 Standard Edition.
PC are Win XP.
Do not have the full blown SQL that comes with SBS Advanced Ed. Have the light SQL that the Standard comes with.

The error is happenin on the server install. Still haven't gotten to the PC. O, it's going to be about 16 PCs & 1 Notebook. Have done this installation on 2-SBS Advanced & 1 SBS Standard Editions before and this is the 1st time coming accross this problem.

Hello,

After carefull consideration of your network environment, determined that if you could use our PC Tools MSDE database instead of SQL.

To troubleshoot the problem, please follow the steps

1. Please uninstall the server and console completly
2. Reboot the server.
3. Then reinstall using PC Tools MSDE database only.

Hope that it will resolve the problem you are experiencing.

OK, i installed from the Auto 'Install Database' and nothing seems to happen. Nothing appers in All Programs or in Add & Remove Programs. Is that what i was suppose to install? And i'm i still going to have the Console on the server to install and administor the clients?

Thanks for the reply.

Please note: The SDE Database will appear in 'Add/Remove Programs' as
"Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (PCTOOLS)"

Please follow the steps below carefully.

1. Could you please Install the Spyware Doctor Enterprise Database Server first.

**Please note this is the 'Install Database Server' option from the AutoRun.exe located in \PC Tools Spyware Doctor Enterprise (where the installer extracted to)**

Follow the install steps as prompted.

2. Next, try to Install Spyware Doctor Enterprise Server & Console

**Please note this is the 'Install Spyware Doctor Enterprise Console' option from the AutoRun.exe located in \PC Tools Spyware Doctor Enterprise (where the installer extracted to)**

Follow the install steps as prompted.

This should allow the install to detect the PC Tools database instance that was previously created in step 1.

For helpful online SDE information you can view the complete SDE Admin Guide at: http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor-enterprise/help/3.0.1/adminguide/

If this does not help, are you able to remove the 'Light SQL' that is installed as a test?

Please let us know how you go, via reply to this post.
