Hello,
i have installed today the PC Tools Firewall Plus and works greatly without Problems. I am running Windows 2003 Default Server Edition with SP1.
Ok, 2 questions:
1. What the PcTools Firewall Driver do in my Networks Settings/lan Settings?
2. Did Smart update works at the Moment?
3. Did the PC Tools Firewall plus will be instant for Free use?
And i am very happy because the firewall works on my windows 2003. All other Firewalls don't do that because " This firewall is only for home purposes please buy the Server edition" hehe but i am using it as a Workstation. Thanks to the development team

hi josy1982,
PC Tools Firewall Plus installs two drivers
1. TDI - Application Filter driver (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\pctfw1.sys)
2. NDIS - Packet Filter driver (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\pctfw.sys)
The drivers interfaces with Windows Internal
The NDIS (Packet Filter) driver is in charge of allowing or blocking different communication protocols based on the Filtering rules
The TDI driver is in charge of allowing or blocking application based on user choices (or the white list of known good application)
With number 2, please see this thread: http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44646
And last question, the PC Tools Firewall is a free software.

Hi thank you for answer my questions.
But it seems the firewall do nothing. Ok it ask me for outgoing connections but not all. I dont have trust Quicktime to download updates but quicktime do it without any question is this normal? Quicktime is not in the list of authorized or blocked apps.
But i must say that the firewall is very easy to use but what means "Plus" it don't have any professional features. And don't has any security levels that i can't adjust. And the firewall don't warn me by incomming blocked Transactions. is this normal or is it doing still? But there are no logs about blocking any incomming traffics....

Quicktime has been added to the whitelist, this is why it does not notify if you wish to download the updates.
With the name "PC Tools Firewall Plus", this is the name given to the software, it does not have anything to do with the features. Please be assured that PC Tools Firewall Plus will have many new features/improvements to come especially in later versions.
With the future versions, this will allow users to disable the whitelist.
The Firewall will send logs only if the log property of the Filtering Rule is set. To select logs, go to Filtering rules-> double click on a Rule-> select 'next-> Tick the checkbox for 'logs'.
