Is there a way to turn off automatically adding any apps to the approved list?

I do not use IE and OUtlook Express and do not like that they automatically get added to the approved apps list upon first use. I do not know what other apps are in the automatic approval list which makes me hesitant to trust this firewall.

I really like the firewall otherwise, it's light and I like the traffic monitor in the tray icon.

Thanks,
Nyceis

Hi nyceis,

Currently there is no way to disable the feature.

When a new application tries to connect to the Internet the Firewall will check whether a rule exists in the list of application rules for it. The following scenarios can happen:

1. The application has a rule (allow/block) – The Firewall will allow/block the application based on the rule

2. The application does not have a rule but exists in the white list of application (a list of known and valid applications) - The Firewall adds an allow rule for the application and allow it to access the internet

3. The application does not have a rule and does not exist in the white list – The Firewall will ask the user

The applications in the white list are automatically allowed (added to the application rules as allowed) but you can change the application rule to ‘block’ and then the application will be denied access regardless of its existence in the white list.

Hope this information helps.

Please note that we are considering adding a feature to allow the user to not use the whitelist of known applications in a future version release.
