Problem download updates

The computer I have PC Tools AntiVirus on has problem downloading virus definition updates. For Spyware Doctor updates, I have to set the connection to use proxy server rather than direct connection for its update to work. However, the PC Tools Antivirus does seem to have this option. Can anyone help?

Try disabling your firewall and any antivirus software you are running when trying to perform a Smart Update.

Check to see if this works.
