There has been some discussion in the forums at wilderssecurity.com that the interface and rules of PC Tools Firewalll Plus resemble the Look 'n Stop firewall somewhat. Could you share with us whether there is indeed a connection between this product and Look 'n Stop?

Hi squibbon,

I believe we use some third party technology in our product but the development team have said details of that are confidential so I can't confirm whether we have sourced technology from LnS or someone else. I do know that the technology is world leading, and when I can comment more I will provide you with this info.

Thanks,
AChen

Yes, we can inform you that the Look 'n' Stop firewall software has been used as the base to develop the first version of PC Tools Personal Firewall Plus software following an official agreement with the LnS authors. PC Tools Firewall Plus already includes a new GUI and some new technology and will shortly be upgraded to include IPv6 and Windows Vista support. We have a great development team dedicated to PC Tools Firewall Plus and they will be making substantial regular upgrades to the product in the future. Due to confidentiality restrictions in the contract with LnS we can not really discuss the agreement, or what the other party will be doing in the future but hopefully this satisfies some curious minds out there!

Best,
