Hello peeps :]

I'm getting a little hot under the collar trying to find where in the registry the context menu items are for files and folders.

I've sucessfully removed other context menu items from files and folders before but not these ones from a program called Context menu pic here (http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/moveonboot.html>MoveOnBoot</a>.

<a)

These are some of the registry locations i've tried --&gt; <a target="_blank" href=http://windowsxp.mvps.org/context_folders.htm>Manage the context-menu entries for files, folders, drives and Namespace objects</a>.

MoveOnBoot is a very basic program and does not have any options associated with it (like WinZip where you can have different context menu items displayed or not).

Also, although this is a right click context menu, its not a "hold mouse still" right click. This context menu appears when i right click a file or folder and drag it down then release. This context menu also appears on all files, folders and even drives. I have also tried to search the registry for "Move file(s) on the next boot" and "Copy file(s) on the next reboot" and nothing came up in the entire registry.

Hope somebody can help.

Have you tried uninstalling it? If it shows up for all files, try HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex. There are 2 subkeys: Contextmenuhandlers and propertysheethandlers. Go through them both.

Sure, uninstalling it does remove the context menu items but i like the program enough to keep it installed. I don't want to unintsall it and re-install it every time i want to use it.

I also tried that registry location and there was a folder there for that program, but deleting it does not remove the context menu items :(

Download and run <a target="_blank" href=http://www.ramlende.com/downloads/contextedit11.zip>this</a>. I've been using it for years. I'm currently running Vista build 5744, so it works that far up the food chain.

I get an error when i run this. It starts to read file type data... then i get:

Could not obtain KEY_QUERY_VALUE access to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.z2
Error code 5.
Your regestry may be damaged, or another program may have been
modifing the regestry as ContextEdit was trying to read it.

I've never gotten that error message, so I don't know how to fix it. You might try <a target="_blank" href=http://www.xs4all.nl/~wstudios/Associate/index.html>WAssociate</a>
