View Full Version : How to stop the 'Program' folder popping up at restart? (WXP-Home)

The 'Program' folder pops up at startup of the computer. I read somewhere long ago that this is because of a corrupted registry entry. I think the problem was that an entry contains the path to a program that is supposed to be executed, but the corrupted entry makes the Program folder to open instead.
Can anyone confirm this theory, and how to search for the entry and delete it?

Thanks,
Martin

Haven't heard of that one, but try this app: http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html

It will show you everything that "autoruns" at startup, you may be able to workout what's causing it.

Look in both:
HKCU - Software - Microsoft - Windows - Current Version - Run

And

HKLM - Software - Microsoft - Windows - Current Version - Run

You are looking for an incomplete entry in the right pane of the Window. If you see it, just delete it.
