View Full Version : SCEPOL.LOG
I've found on our server that the log file scepol.log has grown to 165 meg!! I've applied the M$ hotfix (827684) , but how do I reclaim the 160 odd meg of disk space?
Is it safe to just delete the file?
Any help would be apreciated

Log Files - in general: Managing and analyzing the log files is a good practice and can lead to the gathering of valuable information. E.g., when there are problems, looking at certain log files can yield information pertaining to the error, or point to the error itself (maintenance log file role).
If you may enable/disable debug logging into Scepol.log file by your own decision, then you may delete it as well, IMHO.

Many thanks Josefz, I'll try your suggestions.
It worked!!
I applied the MS KB827684 patch, but the scepol.log file stayed the same size. I then added the registry entries as per MS support document Q277675 in Josefz reply and rebooted. The 165mB file had been renamed to scepol.log.old and a nice new miniscule scepol.log had been created. I then simply deleted to scepol.log.old file and reclaimed 165mB of disk space!
Excellent!
