Okay so recently I had to replace my modem (I dont really want to get into the long explaination) and in doing so I have now managed to lose the ability to connect to my PC from my other computers on my network, mainly my Macintosh.
I had this problem before and it took about four hours of digging to finally sort things out. I did write down some tips however this time around they don't seem to be helping.
Basically I've gone into the Local Security Settings and editing my User Rights Assignement. I go into "Access this compute from the network" properties and try to add other computers on the network.
Now - sometimes I manage to be able to find my powerbook, and other times I do not. Either way it results in a problem.
I attempt to add it and I confirm the addition - now if I've managed to find the powerbook and try to add it - I get a message about being unable to save it. If I dont find my powerbook and use the only computer that shows up (which is called "ADAM" for some reason) it doesn't give me this message.
However if i close the local security settings window and re-open it, any changes I made were not saved.
So heres the questions:
Why are they not saving?
Why is my powerbook not showing up (it periodically did, but in the past few days hasn't)
also - is it normal for some of the folders to look like they have a little lock icon (acound policies and local policies along with their subfolders all feature this locked folder icon)
I'm really having a rough time with this and need to get it to work.
I know its my PC that is the problem because my PC connects to the mac just fine, as do the other computers on my network - however no computer can connect to my PC.
