I go to a web page which allows you the ability to click on a magnifying glass to see the document/image that is listed. When the image viewer opens I get a blank screen with a red X in the upper left part of the screen. I was able to open the document/image on another laptop running Windows 2000. What am I missing.
IE 6.0.2900

Not enough detail. Could you give us a link so we can see what you are looking at?

This is the web site:
http://www.york.me.us.landata.com/
but it is a secure login and I don't think my company would allow me to give the user and password. After I login I'm taken to another screen where I make a selection from the menu and this brings up another screen where I make another selection which opens another IE window and this screen has several options one being a view image button to view a scaned document. When I click on that another IE window opens and has a frame with the words "http://www.york.me.us.landata.com-image viewer Microsoft Internet Explorer" across the top of the frame. There is nothing showing in the frame except a red X in the top left of the screen and at the bottom of the screen it says "view running" but that is as far as it goes, I never get to view the document. I'm running windows XP pro.

That's the detail we were looking for. Thanks.

A couple of questions:

Has it worked on this computer before?

Have you tried to lower the security level in IE so see what happens? Maybe there is a script or ActiveX control that is being stopped.

Can you right-click the red X and chose "Show Picture"? Anything happen? Or is the context menu more like one you would see with a Flash file, with Play, Loop, Rewind, etc?

Does this problem hold true for every document you should have access to or just some particular ones?

I have never tried it before on this laptop, but on my old laptop running windows 2000 I'm able to view the image.
I just tried lowering the security level and that didn't work
When I right click I get options like-BACK,SELECT ALL,CREATE SHORTCUT,ADD TO FAVORITES,VIEW SOURCE, ETC.
When I open the main web page there are images on the page and I can see them. I tried several documents within this site with the same results.

Boy, I'm at a loss then.

At this point the only thing I can think of is there is some plug-in missing that exists on the 2k machine.

Verify that the following are up-to-date:

Flash/Shockwave
Adobe Reader
Java 2 Platform SE

Beyond that I don't know what else to say.
