MSIE crashes whenever I visit Java pages, particularly the intellicast.com weather site. MSIE stops loading then suddenly crashes as soon it encounters Java. I am also having the same problem on my laptop that's on the same wireless network. I am having to use Mozilla for these sites, since it doesn't seem to have this problem.

Download and install the current <a target="_blank" href=http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp>Java Runtime Environment</a> version (5.0 Update 8). Be sure and un-install the old JRE from Add/Remove Programs.
Post back if this doesn't resolve the issue.

Tom,
I did exactly that, but I'm still having the problem. At a Java site, what's occurring is the page will fail to load beyond the very top of the page. The browser window will eventually crash, giving an error message. I clicked the link for details of the errors and got this:
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.0.2195.7006 Offset: 0004d79a
ppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: mshtml.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2800.1561 Offset: 00137246
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.0.2195.7006 Offset: 0004c022
Because this problem is also occurring on a second Windows 2000 computer, that tends to suggest it might be a bug in Microsoft's most recent update.
Mozilla is having no problems.
Thanks,
Fred

I'm wondering if this Microsoft article is related to your problems:

I had exactly the same problem both at home and work with W2K. I haven't figured out exactly which update did it and unfortunately when I did the update at home I downloaded 15 at one time so, I'm going to eliminate them one at a time and find the culprit so I can fix it. I too downloaded Firefox to use and I'm really starting to like it!

Microsoft in their infinite wisdom actually created the problem with an update. The patch for the update was supposed to be out today but I haven't seen it yet. Here;s the link to the article.

Since Microsoft delayed the patch for the patch that was to be released yesterday, there is one easy way to fix the crash/page hangup problem. Just go to IE tools/advanced and scroll down to Http 1.1 and uncheck both boxes, reboot and the problem will go away. It's not perfect but, at least you won't crash until they design a fix.
