I searched all the forums here but could not find a post concerning alternative update sites for 2k (and XP for that matter). I went to the official MS update site and found that suddenly it tells me that my computer can't update and the likely reason is that I don't have automatic updates turned. One reason for this is that I want to determine when my computer reboots, but it apparently doesn't just download critical updates, but also what they call "high priority" and there is no way I'm giving M$ a blank check to install whatever THEY might consider high priority. In some cases it will be things I definitely don't want.

Apologies if I have just missed it on my search, but can anyone put me onto one of the alternative sites?
TIA

Go to Automatic Updates and set it to "Notify me of new updates but do not download or install them" and click Apply.
