Hello
I have Windows 2000 with service pack 4 and Norton internet security installed.
I bought a new mouse from "P.C. World" Advent cordless laser type ADE-LR1.
When installing, the system asked for the disk, so I loaded the supplied disk. This loaded a small program to allow selecting additional button use and to use in "Enhanced mode or Microsoft mouse".
After loading the mouse was not responsive in Enhanced mode, and the standard mouse setting was slowish. Both caused a blue shadow after any drop down boxes were used, and it has caused the following.
The system sometimes hangs on startup.
The browser takes 90 seconds to load.
The Toshiba dvd-ram will not read dvd any more, I get,
E:\ is not accesible. Invalid access to memory location.
After four phone calls to support and two visits back to the store, I am told they do not know what drivers it should use and they will take the mouse back. What about the trouble to the system.
I can pay £12.50 for them to check it and tell me what is wrong. Then additional cost after that to fix.
I have removed the software from the system and it still remains in trouble.
Although I have never edited a registry I am prepared to give it a go and hope a kind person may point me in the right direction. As I am assuming this has caused a conflict and possible entries to the registry.
thanks for looking.
