I am extremely new to networking, but because I am the only one in my office with even a clue as to how it works, they have given me the task of setting up Norton Antivirus Server on our network. That is the problem though. We do not have a network that is currently connected.
There are three different locations that I am trying to connect, but I am not sure that I can even make this program work in all three. In my location, I have a simple network setup that allows for access to the Internet via a router along with file and print sharing. The other two locations have nothing other than internet via a router.
Can I install a simple XP Professional computer with the Antivirus program on it and have the computers throughout the company access it, or do I have to buy a much more expensive Server? If I can use the XP computer, do the others have to be setup with a network before it can work? What other equipment do I need?
Any help would be appreciated as it appears I am my company's only hope.
