Every time i come back home from uni and connect wirelessly to my home network, my computer sometimes suffers long 1-2 min delays opening any programs.
When i go back to uni and connect through a wired connection everything works fine.
I've done allsort to try and fix it and nothing works.
Any sugestions?
Spec:-
Intel P4 3GHz HT
Win XP home
1.5GB RAM
Ati X300
Realtek RTL8180 Wireless LAN
Motherboards 10/100 Ethernet
thanks

Do you perform normal shutdown and restart or do you use standby or hibernate? If you use later ones, your computer has still old ip-address at home. That might cause delays when windows tries to access resources using it. After some time windows may detect wrong ip-address and acquire new one.
To resolve this without reboot, you can use ipconfig command. So at home open command prompt and give command "ipconfig /release". It will relese your old dynamic ip-address. Then run command "ipconfig /renew". That will acquire new ip-address from your home network. Hope this helps.

I do a normal shutdown or a restart.
at home i use an IP that i've chosen myself, (manual setup). at uni it was set to aquire one from their servers.
I have noticed that if i'm not connected to the wireless network i dont have these slowdowns.

I also get the following eventing in zone alarm, that appear everytime i get a delay
<a target="_blank" href=http://uk.geocities.com/ma77h3w246/delay.jpg>http://uk.geocities.com/ma77h3w246/delay.jpg</a>
the IP address it is trying to connect to is my old IP on the other network.
