Windows VPN (W2K)

Since my last post went unanswered, lets make it simpler.
Can I setup a VPN between my home and office using Windows 2000 Pro on both systems or do I have to have Windows 2000 Server?

I guess answer is no. I'm not VPN expert, but when I use VPN from home to work, there is special VPN server which I contact. It then routes traffic to company network. So from that I assume that it is not possible to create VPN connection between W2K and/or WXP machines without server running special VPN software. If it would be possible, I guess there were instructions available how to set up your private VPN connection for example between your two home computers.
