Hi there and Hello.
I got a problem running Scandisk on a friends system , it will not finish complete.....it tells me " scandisk found errors ,and fixed them all"...ok and i close the program..and scandisk should then just "Complete Task" But there it will just freeze....no respons , i might be able to ctrl+alt del sometimes but mostly i need to boot with the PWR-switch.I also runned it from DOS..no probs....but in windows ,,NO..and i need to run it from Windows cos i have to Defrag the machine..and the defragmenter can not do the job before scandisk has fixed the Errors...hmm....
Ok i closed all running task's/apps before sunning Scandisk....so im a bit short on ideas what to do....anyone/anything wil be nice...THX

Hmm.... Are there any other programs running at the time? Check everything, even hidden apps that can only be seem with control-alt-delete.

I have had the same problem... I run Norton Disk Doctor and then run scandisk after that and it works okay for me... We have seen lots of PC's that do this...

First, disable your screensaver.

Close all tray icons.

Hit Alt_Ctl_Del and end task on everything but Explorer and systray.

Now give it a try.
----------------------------------------------------------
A tip for Win98:
CLEAN DEFRAG:

To defragment all your hard drives/partitions with no overhead (background programs running or TSRs/VXDs loaded), change to the \Tools\Mtsutil folder on your Win98 Setup cd-rom, and right-click on Defrag.inf. Select Install.

This will create a one-time entry (DEFRAG.EXE /ALL) under this Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunServicesOnce

Defrag will start automatically next time you boot, before the login prompt, therefore before any other program loads.
