Hey folks, when you purchase Registry Mechanic and buy the year subscription, you might think that after your year is up you are no longer able to update the program.......Right. Well, not only are you not able to update the program, it reverts back to a trial version that does not fix your problems. I have been arguing with the complacent help desk to no avail. Beware, you are only paying for the program to function for a year and that's it. I will never buy anything from these con artists again.

hi mileskc,

If RM expires, you can still use the full version. However, you cannot upgrade to the latest version or perform a Smart Update.

If you end up formatting your hdd, you can not register RM with the expired license code, but if however you are using the same version, then it will perform the same as if it were registered.

Cheers

Hi Chippa,
I have tried to continue using it. It has reverted back to the trial version. I do not have my registration number.

Hi mileskc,

Please see my reply at http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=420

I would like to follow up on your case as you should still be able to use Registry Mechanic after expiry. Could you PM me your license details/order number/email address used when you purchased? If you have already submitted a support ticket, I can also follow up there for you.

I have been using Registration Mechanic for just over 12 months. I have received an email offering to renew my subscription for $19.95 USD. The messag eactually reads:-
"Our records show that your Registry Mechanic subscription is up for renewal and due to expire in the next 30 days.

You will of course still be able to continue using your current version of Registry Mechanic without new updates but if you renew your subscription today you will obtain another full year of new versions, smart updates and support, for only $19.95 USD per license saving $10-off the normal price of $29.95."
However when you navigate through the pages to pay it suddenly jumps to £19.95 Sterling pounds! Since the exchange rate this morning is £1 equals $1.97 USD means that the sterling price is almost twice as expensive as it should be?

What a ripoff.

Our prices are not based on the adjusted daily exchange rate. Because of advertising, media and resellers that have the current prices listed, we can not change it on a daily basis. The GBP renewal price for Registry Mechanic is a fixed rate at 14.45 GBP. The rate never changes unless otherwise indicated.

Please note: GST/VAT is only applicable for countries that are part of the European union and if it is applicable to your order the GST/VAT will be displayed on the second page of the order process

Also, during the order process, you are able to change to a currency you prefer.

 They seem to have fixed the problem of bombing people with renewal reminders with another sleazy trick - automatic renewal. I purchased today, only to notice on my invoice that my credit card will be charged a renewal fee of $29 every year unless I cancel. Watch out! Why would a company with a good product do that to its customers? Seems like they aren't very confident people will find this product useful.

Hi tfine,

The automatic renewal process has been introduced as a way to make the renewal process easier.

Please note that you are able to cancel the automatic renewal process at any time by contacting support.

For what it is worth I thought the Renewal of my Registry Mechanic was a good deal!

I think if you have a product that is working well for you it is best to subscribe and get the upgrades, and after having disasters with other registry cleaners, I was more than happy to renew.:D

I have just renewed for around £15, less than my original purchase price, I thought this was a good deal. We always feel a bit ripped off here in the UK, versus the American Dollar, but the high V.A.T. we pay here is to blame!

If you look at hardware components on American and UK sites you will see little difference in the sterling/dollar prices.

On the software side of things Vista is a prime example with virtually the same price in dollars being quoted as is in sterling in the UK, give or take a few exceptions. (I think I will go on a holiday to the states to buy it LOL).

As for the setting up of the automatic subscription renewal in future years, other publishers are doing exactly the same thing, it's just not PC Tools!

I guess everyone has their own experiences and opinions, this is just mine:p
