Hi all,
I am currently developing a small Software firewall, which only does Port blocking. I have tested this software in all Windows Operating systems. I am facing problems, only in systems, with Windows 98 and Norton Antivirus 2003 running.
The problem is, when the user wants to block NetBIOS ports, the system gets totally disconncted from the network. The user couldn't able to browse, communicate with other PC's in the network as well as browse the internet. Quite intrestingly, this problem arises only only in Windows 98, with Norton 2003 running, with "Worm Blocking" enabled. Rest, it works fine, if the Windows 98 is not installed with Norton AV. How to resolve this ?
My only concern, is not to allow NetBIOS on certain instances.
Is this a problem with Norton 2003 ? I don't think, there is a problem with Windows 98, since my firewall program works fine, if Win98 is not installed with Norton AV 2003.

Thank you all in advance for the help.

Windows 98 has an older version of NetBIOS than the others, and Norton kind of takes control of Windows 98, instead of letting Windows take care of some things. You might have to just put an incompatibility message. A lot of people have XP now, but I understand your concern for those with 98.
