Hello. I recently put one of my most-used websites on my desktop as web content, but all the links open in IE.

Not good enough! I want them to open in Mozilla Firefox. I was thinking I could switch the IE pathname to the Mozilla Firefox path, and sneak something in there ;)

Otherwise, can I specify which program is to open the link? I think Windows passes a .url file along to the program, or just the URL as an arguement. Either way, Mozilla should support it (it hasn't let me down yet).

Oh, and this is why I don't like IE, and I like Mozilla Firefox:

- Almost full security prompts, when actually necessary
- Tabbed Browsing (much better with the 3rd mouse button as an 'open in new tab' shortcut)
- ProxySwitch, which lets me get to websites like these at school >:), serves them right for blocking harmless websites anyway.

However, this is not an issue with my school's computer, but my private computer, and I would like to find a way.

Another thing, the website is www.thottbot.com , which is a WoW database. The Windows 2000 computer is right next to my gaming computer, so it makes looking stuff up easier. Just background information about the fact that none of the links are buttons, but actual "<a href>" links.

Is Firefox set as your default browser?

Yes it is. I've checked several times.

Bump.

Come on, I've seen several IE paths in the registry, which one(s) do I need to change?

I don't think it's going to happen. My theory is this. The web content running on the desktop is running in IE. When you click on a link you are using the "Open in New Window" command internal to IE. So your are asking the internal programming of IE to open in a different browser. I don't think it is a registry thing at all.

Anyone, please contradict if this sounds wrong.

Don't know if it will help but try going to IE Tools, Internet Options, Programs and deselect the option at the bottom for IE to check to see if it is the default browser. Click Apply and Ok.

Of course then re-set Firefox to be your default browser afterward.
